wdma stands for where da moviez at?

it is an offshoot of the bittorrent barnyard at something awful

after wdma became popular, something awful split into a forum and a separate tracker

it was a joke at the expense of the n00bs joining something awful looking for illegal content they could download, but were not able to find it

5 months later, wdma vanished as if it never existed

Also found this little tid bit of information

This moniker is an acronym for 'Where Da Movies At?' althought the front was 'washer and dryer manufacturers association'
The site allowed it's members to d/l high quality rips of all sorts of films past and present.

They had one rule, and the first rule of wdma was 'You don't talk about WDMA'

Recently, one rogue memeber of wdma reported the site to the MPAA, RIAA, fbi, CIA and several other TLAs

and that was the end of that.
