Do you guys think this a good deal and, setup for a gaming rig?

If it is how long do you think it would be before I would need to upgrade again?

The ram and video card both suck. That computer is way overpriced for what you get.

Agreed, way over priced. I'd only pay that much, if they were throwing in a 21" syncmaster.

go to google.com ans search for it. i'd recommend that you disassemble your current computer before building one. Oh and be sure you treat the cpu carefully. If you dont treat it properly, you can break of the pins... but as i said dissassemble your own own computer you have right now and re assemble. Newegg.com is a great place to by computer parts..

I agree with formula take your current pc apart slowly so you know how things connect and see what goes where, this is what i did when i first built my first system and now i can build them with my eyes closed , with my feet and my hands tied behind my back lol.

Cpu Good it has a 1024 cache nice

ECS mobo i have heard lots of issues with stability for overclockers but i assume you dont know how to do that. so it should be ok

memory isnt bad but isnt the best

video card sucks go with nvidia.

HDD - I would use the 500 gig for storage. i currently have 2 74 gig raptors on raid 0 if you can buy them do the same but ask or look around on raiding it is hard for first timers.

Psu - get a antec at least 550w

When I first saw this question, I thought of Tom's Hardware, and speak of the devil they just started a new how-to (http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/11/20/how_to_build_part_1/). Looks like they've done a good job of going over all the considerations that should go into picking out each component (and thats 80% of the battle!). It also links to guides it's written on selecting say the 'best video-cards for the money' or a 'beginner's guide to motherboard selection.' Have fun!
