I have recently tried overclocking my Geforce MX 420, and want to know if anybody on this board knows what the limit is, or their personal experience.

Thanks a lot

Every card will perform different when it comes to tweaking. I take it you tried using the GeForce Tweak Utility (http://content.guru3d.com/index.php?page=geforcetweak&menu=0).

Here is some some typical setting of default and overclocked:

Standard speeds:
GeForce2 Pro: 200MHz/333MHz (core - memory)
GeForce3 Ti 200: 175MHz/400MHz
GeForce4 MX 420: 125MHz/166MHz (SDRAM)
GeForce4 MX 440: 135MHz/200MHz (DDR)
GeForce2 MX (int): 50MHz/50MHz?

Overclocked settings:
GF2 Pro Overclocked: 210MHz/350MHz
GF3 Ti 200 Overclocked: 185MHz/440MHz
GF4 MX420 Overclocked: 135MHz/190MHz
GF4 MX440 Overclocked: 145MHz/230MHz
GF2 MXint. Overclocked: not overclockable

Dependency also based on system setup.........try overclocking your board in small increments until you find a setting that will runs stable. Perhaps reaching at or close to those marks above...Good luck! B)

It starts at 250/332. The overclocking settings you have are less than the original settings for the card.

Thanks, however, for your input.

Don't those poor little things run way hot as it is?
What kind of risk would there be?

If that is the case, it would appear it is overclocked already. As the factory setting would show as listed above. Exactly what Geforce MX420 do you have?

be sure to add a nice cooling system for you card though, cuase if you overclock tooooo much without a good heatsink/fan then you might as well **** your card up
