Hey guys.
I just upgraded my bios (*wipes sweat from forehead*)
And found new options in that thar bad boy!
CPU timer, and an option to disable my onboard graphics.
I'm wondering should I fiddle with the timer?
My fsb is 60hz, and bios says its in safe mode. Will messing with the timer settings boost my performance a little? My cpu is a 633 celeron.
I'm not looking to OC like a mad dog or anything, I'm just curious :P
I'm going to bed now, *rubs eyes* Its 2:56 In the AM!
Be back later to answer or update, or whatever........................................

the default fsb on a celeron 633MHz should be 66MHz.
if you want more performance, why not just upgrade your cpu?
celeron's are really cheap these days.
you could probably get a half-decent one for about Ł20 ($35)
what motherboard do you have?
you may not be able to upgrade your cpu depending on that
Yea its 66hz, I was very tired last night
I was only wondering about the clock settings in bios, I'm giong to build a new pc in the fall, but wondered
what I could squeeze outa this one.
The mother board is a brookings> (MS-6312 Flex ATX WH11)

This PGA 370 system board uses the Intel® 810E chipset
Gateway Flex Case Only
Not a standard ATX
PC100 SDRAM DIMM system memory
Supports Intel Pentium ® III processor (with 100 MHz and 133 MHz front side
bus) or Intel Celeron™ processor (with 66 MHz front side bus)
Also Supports Ultra ATA 66 drives
Integrated Crystal 4299 sound
Integrated Conexant™ Smart MCII & SmartDAA™ V.90 modem
Integrated Intel 810E 2D/3D graphics accelerator

I found out The only jumper on my board is for cmos, That means it can't be done then?........ hum, oh well :)

Supports Intel Pentium ® III processor (with 100 MHz and 133 MHz front side

Looks like I can go to here, and I can go up to 512 ram! (I'm running 128) :)

M8 evry time u flash(upgrade ur bios the bios always reset its self
back the al setting to the lowest defaults,(fail-safe mode )so u should check al ur settins again or look for an option load optimized defaults

then check them al manualy like memory options ,cache, video shad ,bank timin' f/w t-n,cl ram cl-cycle r al set 4 optimum performance :) :)

Turnin' ur virtual memory off will help a bit as well.

No doubt that front side bus is set to low. My old 533 AMD front side bus can be maxed out at 100MHz. Shouldn't yours be at least that much?

I thought Celerons were easier to "overclock" than newer Intel processors.

well m8 u said u was after preformance and i thought u said ur bios was in safe mode and u might not off know the bios resests so i highlighted some off the key seeting to look for

and my typin' not the best so i tried to keep it short as possible
l2 cache=enabled
video bios shadow=disabled
xxxxxx-xxxxxx shadow=disabled
bank timmin'=fast
system bios cacheable=enabled
vidio bios cache=enabled
fast r-w turn around=enabled
sdram cycle=cl 2 fastes than 3
spread spectrum as lowest or off

and if u turn of ur page swp file (virtual memory)in windows will give a little kick,
and lot off theses older boards style run the memory at the same cloc speed as the cpu so ur memory might b runnin at 66 instead
of 100 if u hav 100hz ram there might also b an option host cloc +33 :)
