Hehe - I know exactly what you mean. Luckily the site came back up later in the day and I got my fix before the cold sweats and shivers started to kick in. :D

My theory is that Ross left the emergency brake on and the server stalled.

..it reminded me of the old KLF days :)

Firebug/html validator/tidy says there's an unexpected </if> on line 214 on the index.

Problem solved

'cept for the fifty or so warnings on this page alone :ermm:

Who codes these things?

Maybe you could paste what your getting...

It's just a ton of missing attributes and stuff, just means we aren't w3c compliant, rly.

Get this (http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/) and this (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1843/), if you are feeling bored and rly wanna look at it. They are kinda' useful..

Also, I reckon the </if> tag might be there 'cos of some compability thing, or maybe tidy is missing the opening one somehow, funny tag, tho'.

..the hourly cost of a snowplough, is extremely high, not forgetting the deposit. The bill for which I shall be sending to FST admin shortly......also my LCD monitor is ruined...the snow melted at the bottom...and ran into the electronics...another bill for 400€ coming your way! :bye:

me.
A while ago I fixed most problems except that some people's usernames (busyman(TM) for example) would be invalid. Whenever I upgrade the board, though, it kinda gets fcked up again because i just half-assedly update the templates missing random things.

I will try to make it valid again though.

<if> tag is for vbulletin...it's not html.;)

I'm sure it is, but aren't there supposed to be opening tags, even so?

It was just a closing tag, it looked like.

It was just a closing tag, it looked like.Opening was missing because there were too many </if>'s or one was in the wrong place (can't remember) but it's fixed now.

when I tried to log in yesterday, I received the message..server is busy, try again later..

then I noticed that I could see all the avatars, signatures etc as guest...

So maybe you could reduce server load by not allowing guest viewing of signatures and avatars...

just an idea...

Think avtars should stay but sigs could be turned off...

Fine by me, but do those really impact on the server if they are hosted offsite like most are?

And sorry clocker/Pete/VB/etc., my tag-thing wasn't really about the outage, I just figured all wee coding probs could go into one thread.

Figured the outage had to do with someone modifying something in there, maybe I was wrong
