yes you can watch on dvd player as long as it supports vcds which most do

burn it as a vcd and it works on dvd player, look for a guide on how to convert, burn as vcd

It's extremely easy, just use a program like Nero (get it off kazaa if you don't already have it) and just click the burn as SVCD option. SVCDs can be burned on CD-RW drives and 95% of DVD players or more play them. Nero will automatically convert it to a SVCD.

Yes, you can make a vcd only if you have a cd recorder and a software called nero or easy cd creator and your dvd can play vcd-s.

The answers to all of your questions. (http://www.vcdhelp.com)

Hope this helps.

This where I learned all I know about it.

[EDIT]: You may have some problems fitting the whole movie on one disk.

Most of the time you have to split it into 2 discs.

:D :) split it with? i used jrc but i dont think when you split it that way you can make it still playable with your current dvd player. this is what i am asking cause i dont have a dvd burner (and ALOT of ppl dont) and i only have cd's and a cd burner soooooo we start at my first question.... what to split it with and make it work in dvd player?

Hello again g0f3rrr. Well heres how I cut files when they are too large. Im guessing that since the file is 800mb it is a divx file so...I tend to use VirtualDub VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) in order to cut films that are larger than 700mb. Follow the instructions here VirtualDub Edit (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/virtualdubedit.htm). It tells you how to cut the films. To make the two files...bring your end point too about halfway through the film and then cut. Youll now have one half of the film plus your original. Now cut the original again only this time start the cut at halfway and go to the end, then cut. When you're all done youll have three files: the original, the first half, and the second half. You can discard the original if you want. Then just use a program like Nero to burn each .avi file as an SVCD and wollah you have a movie on two discs. Good Luck :D

Okily Dokily. Well Im going to guess you have Nero 5...actually Nero 4 is pretty similar. Anywho when you start up Nero the little Cd creation wizard should start up. Now when it ask you what type of cd choose other format. Then pick VCD. And thats about it. Actually even easier is too just start up Nero Express pick Videos/Pictures -> SVCD. Good Luck :D

Edit: Oh, and Nero will do all of the conversion for you, so dont worrying about having to convert the .avi file to .mpeg.

I'm not saying that you don't, but I have never had a movie turn out right using Nero's encoding.

I've always used TMPGEnc.

Yeah youre right, well if you have the MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in for Nero it works actually quite well. But if you want it guaranteed to work than yeah TMPGEnc is your best bet. Oh and you can download the MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in off of kazaa.

Whoa whoa whoa now...do a screen capture and let me know what you're talking about here.

Edit: Definitely do SVCD, better quality.

I don't know about Nero encoding it, but encoding can take quite awhile with TMPGEnc.

On my AMD XP 2000+ It takes about 1.5 hours to encode half a movie into svcd.

thegroggman

Yup that sounds just about right, with the MPEG-2/SVCD Plug-in it normally takes me an hour and a half to two hours to encode.

That's all so much hard work!!!!!!!!!!! I used to fart about with all that b*ll*cks but not any more! If you have a tv-out on your graphics card - do what I did and buy a fify quid transmitter and broadcast the film direct to your tv. Doesn't matter what format it is, avi,mpg all works fine and the pictures spot on. I can now watch all my films the second I've finished downloading.

You can play direct to your tv without the hassle of burning/encoding etc. - wirless transmission via products such as giga video. Just plug a transmitter into your PC and a receiver into the scart conection of your tv and you're away.....

I can vouch for Nelchael. I spent about £50 for my giga video transmitter.
It works really good and saves one hell of a load of time and hassle with converting and burning. B)

1. convert to vcd compliant mpeg.
2. split into 2 parts.
3. burn as video cd with nero.
4. watch it.
