my friends classmate's boyfriend writes for a strategy guide publisher. and he played the original jap version and there's a really elaborate thing bout the 2 towards the end.....

Beat the game. No gay love. In fact, there isn't much of a love story at all; at least not a blatantly obvious one like previous games (Tidus/Yuna, Zidane/Garnet, Squall/Rinoa, Cloud/Tifa/Aeris, etc.)...

I played the Japanese demo. Also, a lot of websites used the Japanese version to write their reviews. I think we would have heard about a gay relationship... there would probably have been political outcry.
