[Not sure if] it is XP home or Pro but it includes additional software for managing and playing media files. Remote control capability has also been added.

All of this can be done[better] with 3rd party software and hardware.

media center is not an o/s per say as we are used to. it is designed to better combine tv, dvd player, computer and such.
