Dear Readers,

Just recently when I was watching a Movie via my TV(S-Video)... the video froze and glitched up and a black screen with text (For a split second) appeared and then my computer 'restarted'... Only that my monitor didn't show anything on it and my CD-Rom drives kept blinking non-stop but no boot-up took place...

And I have a friend over trying to fix it but he doesn't seem to know what the problem may be as we tried switched video cards and that made another problem as his wouldn't even allow the computer to be turned on... but removing it it turned on but of course no bootup...

Secondly the motherboard won't make the beep sound to verify bootup...

So anyone happen to have any probable solutions?

PS Friend is presently just 'rebuilding' the computer to slowly find the problem.

Find your cmos reset jumper and (or) remove the motherboard battery for a few minutes with the computer powered off of course. Restart and go into the bios (pressing delete key) set system defaults, save and restart and hold the ctrl key while the system is rebooting to reset any graphics settings that may have changed when the system crashed.

@ferdcax: Definitely not Power Supply

@Appzalien: That was the first thing my friend did and that didn't work as well no connection to the Monitor was made (Nothing is shown)

@Seedler: Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3100+
1.87GHz, 1 GB DDR RAM
GeForce 6600gt
Not sure what else is needed... But in the end we couldn't find the initial cause.. so he just recommended me to buy a new Mobo + Vid Card (As agp is outdated now so I going with PCI-Express)

PS: Replacing Mobo + Video Card with these:
Mobo: BIOSTAR TForce6100-939 Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138264)
VideoCard: CHAINTECH VGA256C-SE76GS GeForce 7600GS 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card

Why are you buying a motherboard with built-in graphics at the same time as a graphics card?

Either you buy only the mobo or you choose another motherboard to use with the graphics card.
