Okay, i've noticed that all the new games range from 600-800MB per disc, so here comes the newbie part:

How can you fit anything over 700MB on a cdr? can these games only be played on a dvdr instead? i dunno if there is a clever compression technique you use maybe?.

Sorry for sounding new.

from another newbie, i fink the file sizes burn smaller on to the cd :o

But surely 768MB (just an example) won't magically compress to under 700MB when it comes to burning?.

If it's a .bin or a .iso then it will usually fit on a 700MB CD fine, even if it's that size.

Sorry for being annoying, but how does that work?

I mean can you fit Enter the Matrix (all 4 cd's), on 4 700MB cdr's?

when u burn to image to a cd it doesnt go by size it goes by minutes. example a 760mb image will take up 76 min a cd ..get it ?....u know the min by the 2 first numbers

To be honest I'm not exactly sure how it works, all I know is that there is some additional information in the file that is not actually burnt on to the CD.

But its definitely true and yeah, each Enter The Matrix file will fit on a normal 700MB CD fine.

You wouldn't believe how long this had wrecked my head.

I thought you just had to use dvdr's, but that would be a total waste, like saving a 3MB video file on a 700MB disc.

It depends on what the file type is - A BIN file's always a lot bigger than an ISO.

If you want to see for yourself, do what I do - Download WinISO using KL (You'd have to "register" it to get past the evaluation restrictions that would restrict you even trying it). The latest version (and a few before it) lets you convert BINs to ISOs - Once you do that, you can see that most ISOs go below 700MB.
