Are you simply asking about the output specification (which would be required for files already recorded in HD format) or are you asking about the source as well.

If you just mean the output, then you need a graphics card and monitor capable of reproducing the output at whatever level you desire. 1920x1080 would be ideal, but widescreen monitors are 16:10 format not 16:9 so the nearest is 1920x1200 on 23" monitors and bigger. And the graphics card will need to be fairly high-end to produce that level of output.

If you mean the source too then you've got a problem. HDTV tuners are available, but don't have the ability to decode premium channels. Similarly, Blu-ray drives for pc don't have the decoding capability.

However, there's another option - get an XBox 360 HD-DVD drive and connect it to your pc. The details are here. (http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=325&type=expert&pid=3) You also need to make sure you've got a HDCP capable graphics card, but most high end card cards will have that.

Whta are they for then?:huh:High capacity data storage and unencrypted movies.

ATM, only blu-ray players have the decode chip for encrypted movies.
