How do people get a hold of games like vice city before they come out and put them on emule and bittorent?

Some of them might be beta copies. Depending on the company, some of them go outside for beta-testers. Although beta-testers are usually forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so if they are rogue beta-testers, when they get found out, they'll get in Real Big Trouble.

It's because of the warez groups, they are competing which of them has a new release 1st.
Just for the sports of that. It is often not their goal to spread them on the web.
That's a spin off and just makes their names bigger...

We're all just benefitting of that... :D

Edit, to do that they try all in their power; bribary, theft, hacking, cracking,

because some games are released in other countrys 1st this gives people a head start on cracking it and it doesnt take anybody that long to rip a game

the time for a game to come from the production line to the shop floor is a week or more, someone working in the factory could easily just slip a CD into his pocket, or toss it out the window to his mate
