On New Year’s Day we had a power cut, the electricity was off for 3 hours in my area.
I sat thinking how we are so attached to such an element.

If electricity was off for a longer period or was not available at all from a supply.

Let’s say that all supply was cut,
No Electric, Gas, Water.

Now you are confronted with my reason for saying back to basics.

In this age of crazyness it's a good thought, and I think it's good to think of a plan of action if you were ever put in such a situation.

"A prudent man foresees the difficulties ahead and prepares for them;
the simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences." - Proverbs 22:3

what would you do & would you help others?

Living in Canada, currently surrounded by snow, something very drastic would have had to happen if I couldn't get to water.

Therefore, I would arm myself, stockpile stuff in my place, and barricade the door.
