Recently started reading these books and thought they would make an excellent TV series, someone at the sc-fi channel is on the same wavelength,so on Jan 21 the first episode airs.:01:

Based on Jim Butcher's best-selling novels, The Dresden Files tells the story of Harry Dresden (Paul Blackthorne), a regular-guy private detective with extraordinary abilities. While most people see assaults, kidnappings or murders as the work of people with a depraved indifference for human pain, Harry is as likely as not to see the work of supernatural villains.

That's because he's a wizard. The real thing (and the only one listed in the Chicago phone directory). Whether consulting for the police on seemingly inexplicable crimes or following his own cases, he battles dark forces with a wry sense of humor.

The story begins when local gangster Tommy Tom and his girlfriend Jennifer Randall are found dead in a hotel room, their hearts having literally exploded from their chests. There's no natural explanation for the gruesome scene — no forced entry, no sign of struggle and no evidence that the two organs had become fatally claustrophobic. So police Lt. Connie Murphy turns to Harry Dresden, wizard.

Jim Butcher's a nice guy to boot. I hope it goes well.

Does anyone know where it would be possible to download the DFTV Promos, I live in Australia and our Sci-Fi channel hasnt started showing them yet, and I doubt that they will be running Day and Date with the US, so I would love to be able to put them on a disk so that I can watch them on my TV, not on my fairly dark and crappy monitor.

Aye agreed, it started to remind me of Magnum PI - only with magic, but no moustaches. Anyway I just watched 5 and it was kinda dark. So hope springs eternal. :yup:

anyone seen the latest episode? It seems a little inconsistent, only last week (or two weeks ago) they were saying how Dresden isn't allowed to tell civilians about magic or the high council.

Even before he was getting framed, he was telling the police woman about black magic and the high council. Found his description of the high council funny though.

I'm up to episode 9... I think the studio did a 'Crusade' on this series and forced some creative changes which are the reason for the inconsistencies.

For example, episode 8 - Storm Front, is assigned production code 101, meaning it was intended to be the first episode shown/seen.
