As I for sure don't have much bandwidth to spare, I definitely don't spend any time at all building ratio on a site that I don't want.

If i just started on a siite, i sometimes download stuff i dont want to build up ratio but after thats been established, i only download what i need.

Only what I want. If I'm not interested in what the site has to offer I don't bother with it. There are some exception, if the site is given to me by a friend I will build on it when I can spare some bandwidth, If not then it goes unused.

It isn't difficult to seed a torrent ffs. Yes, there are times when a torrent takes a long time to reach a 1:1 ratio, but the torrents that rack up a 3:1 ratio very quickly, help me out there.

Either way, I don't download anything I don't actually want.

if u dont have a super fast connection,then u should build up a good ratio.
after that u can do both to keep the ratio around

My trackers are like Tamaguchi's. So far I've been pampering them like babies. Downloading all kinds of useless crap with good seed-potential just to keep my ratio as good as possible.
But sometimes, only sometimes, I'll download something I'll actually like.

I first build ratio and than start downloading things that I want. I usually jump on new torrents and seed for some days because I have a slow up speed and after that I download just the things I really want...

ive only downloaded something i didnt want twice to build ratio, once on bitmetv and once on oink's both times it turned out that what i grabbed was damn good so it was ok :P i just download what i want then seed for as long as it takes generally. With the exception of oink's and indietorrents i tend to be more active on sites with looser ratio policies (think free torrents and bonus points) to try and avoid the 2nd option :P
