am i wrong in thinking that this will be useless on a pentium class cpu.

would you need a itanium chip or whatever there called to use it?

it is backwards compatible with 32 bit chips i just want it for when i am upgrade and i just want to use it for the heck of it

Why in hell would u want 64 bit? Not a lot of everyday apps run in 64-bit. 64-bit is for workstations and servers.
