Help...when I D/l Xp........

I have d/l windows xp, it goes to my shared folder. when I open the " my shared folder" it locks up my computer. What am I doing wrong? I tried to d/l to a disc, but that doesn't work either. :unsure:

I have windows 98
256 memory
