It really is rather stunning.

Nice to see they decided to make it like a wee bit bigger Old Trafford inside. The Aussies who built it probly thought "Who will be here most often, let's make them feel at home".

Seriously but, it's fan-tastic.

Ahh, I thought they'd actually finished it there, but that's one of them fancy computer generated doodads, isn't it not?

No, it really does look like that. I saw it on the snooker.

You could try the link and see it yourself.

Can't be bothered to read, just looking at the pictures. Is it doubling as a race track or something. To replace Silverstone, like?

It's an amazing place, seriously, just look at the stats.

I'm disappointed they didn't do a proper roof :(

Weren't they doing that slidey roof thing.

Barbarossa

The slidey roof thing only slides as far as the touchlines, and back again. The pitch will always be in the open-air. :idunno:

Oh right.

There stuff like slideshows and a tour here.

Well there actually, not here.

You know what I mean.

Not having a roof shouldn't affect anything regarding games being called off due to the weather -- but the atmosphere is so much better with any roof being shut.

Makes t'singing really loud, like.

Barbarossa

Agreed. It's much harder to raise the roof if it isn't there.

Maybe they could chuck some canvas over the arch and turn it into a giant marquee.

Just read this topic and a thought came to mind about the cost of dismanteling the old stadium -- if you had asked the Scots they would have done it for nothing :D

I heard today the NFL has agreed to play a regular-season game there, and the tickets are pre-sold in excess of capacity to the tune of several hundred thousand.

The numbers surely can't be right, given the game's inferior quality.

Of course, as an American, I am not qualified to comment.

Several hundred thousand tickets for one game?

Several hundred thousand tickets for one game?

I mis-spoke.

The gist of it was 4-5 hundred thousand tickets could have been sold based on interest expressed, or some such.

I could not discern whether the numbers were NFL hype or originated from Wembley officials.

I find it hard to believe, given the general contempt for the American game, but again, what do I know?
