If you can be a bit more specific, you might actually get some replies.

What will you be hosting?
Will you need FTP access?
Will you need email?
How many site names will you need?
Do you already have a registered domain or will you need one?
How many pages will you need?
How busy will the site be?
How much bandwidth will you need?
etc.

A couple of their datacenters suffered in the recent earthquakes during the christmas period. There are other places out there like softlayer and leaseweb but as whats been said previously it depends what your going to be using it for.

What would be a good canadian/US web hosting company for this site I created for my uncles fish taxidermy business? http://linkinparklp.fortunecity.com/Main.html
Also im confused on how this whole domain name thing works, on awardspace it's only good for a year, why would it expire?

Because they will own it, but rent it to you on a yearly basis.

If you are only needing a temporary site, then rental is probably for you. Something like a gaming clan website or something.

If it's a site that you will plan to hold on to for quite sometime, such as for a business, it would be better to buy the domain name via a registration company prior to speaking with a hosting site. That way you can own the domain name and just pay your monthly dues to the hosting company.

Yeah it's for a home run business, what sites do you recommend I use for the registration and hosting?

Registration? Not sure. There are thousands of registration companies though, so I would think it would be pretty competitive.

As for hosting, see the post I made earlier; #7, I believe..
