The Iraqi War is a 'done thing', however the debates in there have evolved in some ways.

There has been a request that this room be re-named and kept for 'serious' debate on such things as Politics, kept seperate from the lounge, so that these threads are not spammed by people that have no interest in the subject.

I agree on a personnal note........

As long as it's open for a multitude of topics :yes please !
Seems war-issues are slowly quieting down and maybe it's time
to move to new things. ;)

I think it is a good idea and have posted a yes to the poll.

It is so nice to have somewhere to stretch the 'ole language skills, improve the vocabulary and enter into a friendly verbal fist fight all in one go....

It is such fun....The War discussion is powering down, a bit like the war in general...I am looking forward to the next BIG thing...and presume it will not be about who won American Idol!!! :D

It's also very difficult to spam in there and not be seen for what it is.

Definite Yes, despite having entered it maybe 2-3 times :)

Seriously though, it helps to keep all the serious stuff in 1 place, I usually come here to get away from serious stuff, I don't want to be subjected to War and Politics in the lounge...keep all the "important" stuff seperate :)

I voted no.

Get rid of it.

The only couple of times I went there I found the regulars to be stunningly condescending.

It is little more than mutual intellectual masturbation.

Bin it I say, the worst type of patronising snobbery.

Look for instance in the lounge :biggest spamming post in the world,
posts about flaming etc.
My point is (before also made by others)that it's best to keep stuff like that
as much as possible in 1 place :and therefor acting like a magnet.

No one has to read all !! (....well except the mods that is)

I understand that.

However it bears no resemblance to the original post which I asked you to explain.

This is a common theme in the place this thread is about.

People posting what they think of as clever replies, without actually talking to each other.

I'll go one further old chum.

The snobs are the people who told me I didn't really undestand the arguement.

The chaps who had quite obviously formed a clique and had rushed to judgement on anyone not in it.

I was going to go into this further then I realised it was a waste of energy. To cut a long story short, it's the people who put education above intellect. No need to go any further. They know who they are.

It probably is a good idea to leave that section open. It keeps them away from the people who just want to hang here and have a bit of light relief.

Yeah let's all be nice and flowery and sweet.

That'll be really interesting and stimulating.

Having said that, you are someone who thinks handball and swiming added together is a good thing. That in itself is very interesting. You also quote Bambi, has to be indicative of something.

Why am I even talking to you. Fish boy.

Up to the same old tricks I see.

Quote someone out of context.

I've said this or something similar before. I have no intention of wasting my time in arguement by technique. I'll just go away now, leave it up to you.

You are obviously much better equiped than I to deal with the serious issues.

Well staying out of a lot of discussions to cause there is little debate sometimes merely a change of opinions... (btw took me some time to notice that)
And a collision of cultural differences... but if the majority will have this who am i to say no....

Good suggestion, Bender-

Kinda says what it is, and has a bucolic flavor to mitigate the "hot air" (I love a warm breeze-sometimes too much).

But: it doesn't really indicate the 'exchange' aspect?

Last night I tried to upload a nude pic I found of Helen Thomas.
Remember we had discussed her a little and I thought it would be a good laugh
The pic was horrendous and everyone rejected it!
I checked the pics on some of these sites to see if they allowed nude pics, and they did!
But they rejected ole helen time after time.
I tried everything too and it didn't work!

Btw if you want to view this pic, do a google search for Helen Thomas and then click the images tab.
