Hi guys,

I've been using usenet for over a year now, but I have a question about an nzb indexing site called newzbin; the web address is v3.newzbin.com

Well, I signed up for it about a week ago and I HAD to put my ISP-based email address into the registration form. My only concern is that IF newzbin gets sued by the MPAA could the MPAA get my email address info and then sue me?????????????

Any feedback u provide would be greatly appreciated!!!

thanks again,

Nathan :)

p.s. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm a noob when it comes to NZB indexing. Please dont be too harsh with me...

I don't think it will happen. No proof that you actually downloaded the stuff (just the NZB file). I dunno but I don't think that Newzbin logs every package each user grabs?

They have your ip anyway so they know who you are. You probably can register more then 1 address with your isp's account so you could make a "distraction" account with an invalid name.

Cant u use another email address? Like a free gmail/yahoo/hotmail one? But regardless, they already have ur IP so unless ur using a proxy, I wouldnt worry about them having ur email address.

they don't allow hotmail or gmail accounts. Try using an AIM acct.

Just ISP and Newzbin knows your IP address, MPAA don't know anything about you, unlike BitTorrent, MPAA can one of seeders or leechers to see who's downloading illegal stuff so don't worry :D
