Duties are not performed for duty's sake, but because their neglect would make the man uncomfortable. A man performs but one duty - the duty of contenting his spirit, the duty of making himself agreeable to himself.

If you are adding one fan to a system that only has the power suppy exhaust fan then add that one fan at the back and set it up to exhaust.

I'm quite sure if you take it from the front and put it in the back and have it blowing outwards it will run cooler.

Simple airflow diagrams:

One in front and one in back looks like this:

---> --->

None in front and both in back looks like this:

--->
--->

So it's either one fan blowing into another or two fans side by side.

I think 2 fans side by side will move more air.

I hope this is clear enough. :blink: :unsure:

Does you board have temperature monitoring?

If so... Try these tests with the fan in the front (blowing inwards).

Run your system without any programs running for maybe 15 minutes and take a reading. (idle temp.)
Then run your system under load (There are programs that will do that: Try this one. (http://pw1.netcom.com/~hjsmith/Pi/Super_Pi.html)) and take a temperature reading again. (under load temp.)

Then move the fan to the back of your case (blowing outwards) and repeat the tests.

You would then be able to tell which way cools the best.

If you do this test... Please post your results. :)

Logic dictates that the intake be as low as possible and exhaust as high as possible. It's not rocket science. Warm air rises.
