hi,
leaseweb are great...
i got an Express server from them, took them 25min to set it up and i already started working with him...
i also used the walkthrough for installing Utorrent on a linux server (Centos) and it worked great...
i can see know why 007 placed them 1st...

leaseweb is good.. but 500GB aint much, i did that in two days with my hosting-ie, which is unlimited, i get great speeds, i need at least 2TB a month, and i dont want to spend more then 50EURO

the only thing i hate about leaseweb is the price.

2tb bandwidth is easy to go through. i could do it... in a day or two.

sooti, for 50€ look at webtropia if you don´t mind to use linux...
you can use all the time 100Mbit and they really don´t mind :)
I use two box for seeding and one box I have very big dc++ hub and no problem at all :)
I just have to say they are great!

Only thing what I hate for them is server opening time... It is something like week or more... But support is good and fast and they can write english (better than me) :)

Somebody ask how much bandwidth in month, answer is as much you can use :)
You really can max your line all the time... My dc++ hub use about 60Mbit allmost all the time and never have any problem...
If you don´t like to 12month contract you can allways ask from me what is price for one box for one month (or 2 month) :)

Also if you like to use it as seedbox and prefer lower price and take it with linux I can install torrentflux on it :)

Leeware, it is 15.20€. You just can not get cheaper anywhere :)
And don´t wait too much speed, there is way too many people who are useing leeware as seedbox...

Maybe metered is possible find cheaper but if you need unmetered then leeware is cheapest...

Some details:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1024 MB DDR2
2 x 160 GB SATA
Real speed is 100Mbit

Price from webtropia with 12 month contract is:
with linux 48€/month
with windows 63€/month (only german language)

But, you can get from me one box without contract and ready installed with torrentflux for 60€ (linux)...

do you have to reboot your VPS often? While i was using Leeware VPS, i had to reboot it every 2-3 days, really unstable

leeware is only one what I know where I have to reboot it all the times...
hosting-ie can be great for speed but also it can be very slow...
If you have good luck and no other people in same computer who use it like seedbox then you get great speed...
That is why I don´t like vps, with dedicated you get your bandwidth all the time :)

i have windows, leeware is linux, leeware was good at first when i first joined, i got 6mb/s upload no prob, but then as people crowded the servers it became more and more buggy and slow, so i tryed other cheap VPS's and when it comes to a budget of 20-50$, hosting-ie is the best server wise, but it's service is much worse then leeware (support), but i get when uploading to 20-40 peers 4mb/s-6mb/s upload on a single torrent, on public torrents i hit 10mb/s-11mb/s easy with alot of leechers... i have 1GB ram, and 50GB drive, it's not huge but enough, i barly have to restart, but if i do it's because i installed something in the windows, also i found out that i have an extrnal panel that i can use to restart the VPS if the windows crashes and wont login or something, so all in all, for 39euro a month, its a sweet deal. :naughty:

Over the past few months ive noticed alot of users interested in purchasing seedboxes, and i think its great alot of users are this into seeding and uploading at torrent sites so i made this thread to help them make the right choice when purchasing a Seedbox/Dedicated Server

BT Server/Seedbox

FAQ

What is a Dedicated Server? A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting where the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone.

What is a Seedbox? Is bittorrent terminology for a dedicated server that is used to upload and download torrents. Seedboxes are usually purchased by uploaders and torrent communities to get the latest content at high speeds.

How do I use the dedicated server/seedbox? A Dedicated Server/Seedbox is very simple to use, once you have purchased and fully paid for the dedicated server/seedbox, the service provider will send you the following:

The Server IP Address
The Server Username
The Server Password

Using these things you can log on to your server using remote desktop.
You can download RDP at: Download Here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/tools/rdclientdl.mspx)
(Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a multi-channel protocol that allows a user to connect to a computer running Microsoft Terminal Services.) You can access remote desktop on your Windows PC by going to:

On your home computer, click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to Accessories.
In the Accessories menu, point to Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.

Then type the IP Address for the Server provided by the Hosting company, click connect and you will be taken to a log in screen, similar to the OS the server is running. Log in and that is it, you now have access to your server.

Dediboxes

What is a dedibox? A dedibox(s) are dedicated server that are hosted by Dedibox.fr. Dediboxes are dedicated servers that you have root access to but the network on which it is connected is shared. Dediboxes are connected to a supposed 300Gbit network, but due to the many subscribers, dediboxes which are advertised as 100Mbit Unmetered will only guarantee you 30Mbit Unmetered. The only time users report reaching 100Mbit Speeds is while connection to another user on the dedibox network.

DEDICATED SERVERS/SEEDBOXES

The Following are my Top 5 Choices for Best Dedicated Servers.

Number 5: V E C T O R A L (https://www.vectoral.info/)

I personally havent used this company, but i have heard nothing but great things from them. They too offer cheap, reliable servers at competitive prices.

Dedicated Servers (https://www.vectoral.info/servers/servers.php)

Server: 4.5/5
Network: 3.5/5

NUMBER 4:M O X I E H O S T I N G (http://moxiehosting.com)

Moxiehosting understands that customers are unique and therefore they provide true flexibility in a wide range of server options and upgrades with realistic pricing. The Network is never oversold ensuring everyone has the bandwidth when they need it. They offer unmetered bandwidth as well.

Dedicated Servers (http://www.moxiehosting.com/services/ded/)

Server: 4.5/5
Network: 4.5/5

Number 3: L A Y E R E D T E C H (http://layeredtech.com/)

Hmm, layered tech one of the best server that i have ever used, i dont think there was a time i didnt max out my speed, with their 100Mbit i could easily reach 11-12 mb/s. They have a great turn around time, i got my server in less than 5, 6 hours.

Dedicated Servers (http://www.layeredtech.com/servers.shtml)

Server: 4.5/5
Network: 5/5

Number 2: S O F T L A Y E R (http://www.softlayer.com/)

This is probably one of the best server that i have ever used, Softlayer is the best of the best, nothing more to say, maxed out connections 24/7. Note Softlayer is the most expensive server ive purchased only because i upgraded to a higher bandwidth and network speed. You have got to purchase one to know how amazing their server and network is, the speeds are phenomenal and the service is phenomenal. This is why ScT, FTN, FSC, all Top site uploaders and torrent sites purchase SoftLayer, because your getting what you paid for.

Server: 5/5
Network: 5/5

Number 1: L E A S E W E B (http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php)

This is the best hosting company, why else would torrent sites such as TL and SCC host there. They provide excellent support and excellent dedicated Server service. They have top-notch servers with one of the best network, you will get great speeds no matter what.

Dedicated Servers (http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php?p=dedicated)

Server 5/5
Network 5/5

You need to make sure that you are placing the correct phone number when ordering using your credit card, In my case I placed the faulty one :)
but finally paid by paypal, then they never ask any questions and got the server in next day :)

Dedicated or vps?whats the different..I want to hire with a friend but not share it with anyone else.dedicated eh?

Using a 100Mbit seedbox as example
Dedicated - You have the whole 100Mbit connection to yourself, not sharing with anyone else. So you can expect high speeds around 7-8MB/s upload (reached that kind of speed on Vectoral)

VPS - You share the 100Mbit connection with other people, so the speed you are getting is alot less compared to Dedicated. I had a seedbox on Leeware, speeds around 2-5MB/s upload.

VPS is alot cheaper than Dedicated, depends on whats your budget range. a dedicated could cost you around 50-60 a month for a decent one (if you split the cost with your friend).

Well, other people have got good results with Leeware but I have VERY slow uploading speeds, so slow I am considering cancelling my subscription.

However, it does not matter if the server runs linux as far as torrents is concerned. uTorrent can be emulated fine using Wine under Linux (see the guide elsewhere in here), and Azureus is readily available for Linux as well.

I got vps raptor 5 with hosting-ie. Upload speeds are great. Average is 3Mb up on private torrents. Seen it up to 6.4Mb, but that is the highest. What are others getting? I was able to upload to someone the the same country at 4.5Mb for a whole torrent.

I too, have the Raptor 5, I have now had it about 9 months, upload speeds can range from anywhere from less than 1MBs right up to 11MBs, download speeds are always high (from ScT) Dont try to rar, or create too many sfv for large files, or else you might as well throw the files at the site you want to upload to, it can be very slow. Service can range from excellent (replies within a hour) to bismal (can take days) Most months, I upload more than 1TB, but if you do go a little too far, they will turn you off for a few days. For the money, 35 € Per/Month, I dont think you can go far wrong.

Hmm, layered tech one of the best server that i have ever used, i dont think there was a time i didnt max out my speed, with their 100Mbit i could easily reach 11-12 mb/s. They have a great turn around time, i got my server in less than 5, 6 hours.

Ask them what is wrong, network card can be broken or something like that..

After several days of using Leaseweb I encountered the next problem:

I am using Windows 2003 Server. In order to upload several files to the server I created FTP server in IIS. Everything goes ok except for upload speed. It seems there is a restriction on upload speed but I don`t know where. Upload speed is roughly 75-78 kb.

I tried to upload the same files on the other server and got higher speed, almost 170 kb.

Do you have any ideas about this issue?

That sound like you have bad connection with one download/upload thread...
With filezilla and some otger you can get up to 10 thread download/upload so that make to trick :)

SSH is not good, it is slow because it is secure...

Try filezilla ftp server in server and but connections max 10, then your filezilla client put also 10 for connections...

:D are you talking about Dedic box or VDs?
If that is dedic then sorry but that sounds stuppid,
take logs of malfunction and request HDD change if it is really bad HDD.
if that is VDS then simply make sure that it is not under Virtuozzo, Virtuozzo boxes aren't designed for p2p, specially if connection to server is high.

The best choice would be some box under VMware ESX :yup:

seriously, if you live in Europe or in Canada (quebec) get this server :
www.kimsufi.com (http://www.kimsufi.com)

It is part of OVH (a French hosting company) and it is their cheapest dedicated server plan.

for 19 euros per month you get this :

Processeur : (http://kimsufi.com/kimsufi/kimsufi.xml#cpu)
Disque dur : (http://kimsufi.com/kimsufi/kimsufi.xml#hdd)
Mémoire vive : (http://kimsufi.com/kimsufi/kimsufi.xml#ram)
Connexion : (http://kimsufi.com/kimsufi/kimsufi.xml#bp)
Intel Celeron 2.00 GHz

I have a hosting-ie that worked pretty good for a month. Every now and then it would be slow both uploading and downloading, but then it'd have normal speeds again within 12 hours. For the past few days I've had speedtests for downloading between 10-30 mb/s but the upload never got above 1 mb/s. When putting in a support ticket here was there response:

hello

we had an quick look to your Server Sir an it looks there is some corruptions
For the server in managed level 1 the quickest and cheapest way to resolve all would be an total re installation
for 17 euro one time fee, all will be set on default back as in first day of purchase

Please let us know if you would like to go for it
Best Regards

Kind of rediculous in my opinion after a $110 setup fee, but not much i can do and of course this happened the day after I payed for the next month. Just some info for anyone thinking about hosting-ie.

I maybe used 2.5 TB, if even that, they also charge some kind of taxes on the box that adds another $10-15 and I'm in the us, so it would've been cheaper for me to get a vectoral with 2 TB bandwidth.

that would be the os on the server. You can use whatever os on your home computer that you want, just have to use different tools on your own computer and install different programs on the server. For example on a linux os you would need to run putty, an ftp program, and possibly a vnc viewer on your computer. You would then either need to run a linux torrent client or run utorrent through wine. With windows you can just use a remote desktop connection, an ftp program and install everything on the server as you would on your home computer.

Hello,
I was looking to buy a SeedBox from LeaseWeb, but I'm having trouble deciding on a package. Could anyone list a package they've purchased from LeaseWeb before, the total cost, and their experience with it (Good, Bad, Etc).

Also, does LeaseWeb technically "allow" torrents, and if they don't, does anyone have any tips to stay under the radar? I'd really appreciate any help with this.

Hello,
I was looking to buy a SeedBox from LeaseWeb

Leaseweb are one of the best, if not THE BEST. They certainly aren't the cheapest :)

Windows: http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php?p=dedicatedexpress

Debian: http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php?p=dedicatedplesk

They allow torrents :) I have never heard of someone being disabled for torrenting @ LeaseWeb!

I'm a noob here, thinking of setting up a seedbox, so thanks for all the great advice in this thread!

I was looking at leaseweb today, they have a package that comes with Debian preinstalled. Would all I have to do is install ftp & wine & utorrent (utorrent is my preference) to be up and running then? Seems pretty easy.

The bandwidth is only 500GB though. Just to clarify for noob sake, that means if I sent 100GB to the server to start seeding with, I've just used up 100GB of my 500GB correct? All incoming and outgoing traffic count towards that 500GB bandwidth, right?

How important is seedbox location when picking out a seedbox?I've noticed a few people go with softlayer or layeredtech which are both in the US. If you reside in the US, getting an euro seedbox might be a bit safer? The speeds aren't always so great though I guess. I'm in the US and am thinking of going with softlayer/layered tech but i'm not sure.

No you can't, and if you do find one, it would either have terrible speeds, not truely be 100/100 MB unmetered...

True unmetered 100/100 or even GB servers go into the thousands easily... =] I suggest you buy a 1TB B/W server somewhere with that price range, then get a shit unreliable server that supposedly has u/m b/w.

Hi guys,i'm planning on getting a seedbox and i have a dilemma...the seedbox would be used mainly to buffer elektronik and tt accounts through rss. So,that means around 100 active, small torrents at any time . My dilemma is-is 512mb enough for that amount of torrents? Or should i go for the 1gb ram one?

I was thinking of getting a hosting-ie server,raptor5 (http://hosting-ie.com/content/view/27/64/) or raptor1+ (http://hosting-ie.com/content/view/29/66/) .

Also,Linux or win-can this systems handle win and that amount of torrents,in your opinion ? Does any 'seedbox' torrent client have an option to stop seeding a torrent after specific time, say 5 hours it seeds it,than stops...I'm an azureus user so i don't know much about other clients.

Noob as i am,any help is greatly appreciated. :)

glad to hear Holland still considered safe but mind how this develops with FIOD (tax investigation unit, the Netherlands) roaring it's ugly head lately.

what's the safest country to have a seedbox located in?
If i had to pick two, it would be Sweden or Netherlands.

I would seriously advise giving hosting-ie a wide berth. As has been mentioned, don't expect anything in the way of customer service - they decided to change my log-in and password details without telling me, so upon reinstalling my server over the weekend, I haven't been able to log-in to anything, meaning my sites have been down all weekend as they don't have any customer service working.

You get what you pay for folks.

That's some Bull
I'm almost 2 weeks out and still have messages posted in the support links that they haven't responded to yet. The one message I do get a reply back from, is when I told them I would be contacting PayPal to report them, and my BANK to have the charges reversed :naughty:

Tech support contacted me back in 5 minutes once I threatened them with contacting PayPal..... now I have to re-send a copy of my ID in order to get my server :frusty:

The only reason why I'm going through all the trouble and waiting is that I've heard that you can get almost 15-17TB worth of bandwidth from them

I'll know for sure by the 21st of May, because that's the deadline I've given them before I contact PayPal to get my money back:shifty:

wmumascot (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/../../members/wmumascot-172695)did you got your server finally ? :)

I think it depends what Server are you ordering, i've hear here lads are getting in 2-3 days, some got in same day :)) some are waiting for 3 weeks, So I think the best Idea is to ask them what is the ETA for the setup.
before ordering

P.S.

Tech support contacted me back in 5 minutes once I threatened them with contacting PayPal..... now I have to re-send a copy of my ID in order to get my serverthe best way is to pay with paypal, then they don't' ask for any ID or contract .

Hello guys, i remember in that seedbox list i saw expensive servers, but in country where you can host piratic materials due to their law. If someone remember that please PM me Russia :)))

they do not mind
Russian low do not cares what happens online, :)
but
they do care about traffic so you will pay 4-5 times more than in any EU country
so it is better to find some safe company

I'm with hosting-ie for a while now and all looks fine,
got cutted few times and worst happened was I had to reformat server fully:)
