Best/fastest Download Manager?

I've used DAP for a while and got the crack to use extreme acceleration speed. I tried Get Right and it wasn't to my liking. Any other recommendations such as Gozilla, etc.

I have used GetRight, DAP and many other download programs but I found only one that I really like. It's pretty fast, has lots of features and looks nice too. Try FlashGet 1.4 (latest version I think), I have used it for years now.

well i use getright and it works fine it just takes alot of time to setup thats all but once you take the time to do that it rocks grrrrr but i can understand that not all want to take that time

it took alot of time till I got it set the way I wanted it :)

do you use these dl managers to get files of ftp sites ?
or can you use them with kazaa ?

I started using flashget, tried all the others and found myself coming back to flashget again. I think it's by far the best. An in reply to xmen question I guess you could say that FTP clients and kazaa are download managers of sorts in their own right.

I use an absolutely tiny download manager/resumer called Download Mage v1.85c -- the whole installer for it is <280 KB in size.

I&#39;ve used it to download off Kazaa (when I was running the &#39;speedcheat&#39; trick for v2.0.0) and I&#39;ve used it to download off FTP sites.

The interface isn&#39;t very pretty, but it is informative enough to do the job.

So which one did you settle on? You&#39;ve got to admit, any of those have some improvement over the browser&#39;s/system&#39;s downloader...

It comes down to personal choice really. The reasons for my choice (SD) are: easy to setup, AV integration, browsers integration, resume & pause (no brainer) & it&#39;s freeware.

Wizzandabe, your max speed is your MAX speed. I have 56k so a resume feature is important. Granted virtually all dl managers have a resume feature. But windows XP doesn&#39;t resume. Some say it does, I could never get it to work properly. And AV integration is a nice safety feature. So the short answer to your question is no.

I agree, Download Mage is good
I also like FlashGet and Download Express

The only reason to get a Download Manager, is for the resume broken links option. With Broadband you really don&#39;t need to worry about it.

Any alternate benefit is that you learn a little about how information is sent over the internet. But 400% increase in speed, people are just feeding on the false hopes of young computer geeks who want great DL speed without having to pay for anything more than a cheap dial upservice.

i used to use getright but now i use the one within Opera.. its not as advanced but has the basic functions and more useful in the browser. Getright is probably my fav... u can customise it in so many ways.. it does take a long time to setup agreed but once u have then its pretty damn good.

LOTS of websites are going to very indirect links for file downloads and audio/video media.

I&#39;ve used Download Mage&#39;s leech abilities with some (but not spectacular) success at DOWNLOADING what they want me to only be able to view/listen.

Also, for websites with lots of pictures, I can &#39;leech&#39; them all semi-easily without having to click on each picture. (good for those porn thumbnails, cartoon sites, and picture-rich news sites)

However, it is only shareware -- most of the leeching features disable after a month, leaving only basic download/resume/download order abilities functional.

But the size and speed of the program means the CPU won&#39;t be slowed down by having it running... which is more than I can say about Kazaa Lite++. :(
