I use several progs:

Blaze Media Pro 2002
WMP 9 with the Cyberlink MP3 creation pack

and a bunch of others that i cant remember off hand.

Its all down to which codec you use, most people use lame or fronholor (???) others use VBR (variable bit rate) or a high static bit rate.

I personally have my music collection in .wma format cos i ripped most of my cd's b4 i got the cyberlink codec pack thingy and i didnt want to rip em again so continued with it.

If your looking for size vs bitrate, wma is smaller than mp3 and the same quality now with the wmp9 codecs.

As for the bit rate i dont go below 192, 128 is not cd quality and cd quality is 176 or something so 192 is the next up.

hope i have answerd a few questions that you might have asked in your next post
