'No Spyware' Policy

Kazaa Media Desktop Does Not Contain Spyware.

Spyware is software that is installed deceptively to gather information about you without your knowledge. This can include centrally recording your personal internet usage, monitoring your keyboard strokes or capturing personal information.

Kazaa installes software called Cydoor. Cydoor is not spyware. It is adware. It downloads adds from a central server and displays them in the kazaa program.

They're trying to stop people from using K-lite by write lots about how they don't use spyware, and then, vitally:

"Some web sites promote uncertified and hacked versions of KMD. However, these applications come from unreliable sources, and can remove functions, change your computer settings or otherwise cause computer problems. Install the certified Kazaa Media Desktop application, available from Kazaa.com or Download.com. Get the latest fully featured application."

Hmmm....

Remove functions? Yep, K-lite removes the ads.
"Case computer problems"? If you say so......

It's a slippery slope between adware & spyware. ;)

To give them credit, Kazaa v2.1.0 is a LOT cleaner than Kazaa v2.0.2 and earlier.
But it still contains ad-ware and lots of pop-up ads...

There was a Topic posted on this the other day.. read it here (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=13&t=35968) They can claim whatever they want.. my first experience with KMD was quite enough, I have no plans on downloading this to find out. I'm very happy with my k-lite :D

BTW: If you download anything from download.com useing their "download installation tool" Kontiki.. IT shows up as a "data-miner"
