View Full Version : voltage threshold warning

i've just built my first system using an MSI k9vgm-v mainboard which is up and running fine, but upon installing the pc alert software it is informing me that the +5v is at 6.23 and is flashing and beeping like crazy. have i hooked something up wrong and can i fix the problem? any help much apreciated.:)

Disable "PC Alert" and install Everest Home Edition. (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html)
See if it also shows a high +5v reading.
If so, break out the multimeter and physically measure the voltage from +5v (it's the red wire in a Molex connector).

If it actually IS outputting over 6v, return the PSU and get a different model.

hey I took your advice and installed everest and it is reading around 5.51 or so now, is this o.k? thanks very much for the help!

5.5v still seems high.
Can you test it with a multimeter?
