Can you help, i'm unable toopen my local disk C.
Each time i click onto it it opens up desktop search. I've unindtalled desktop search and tryied to open local disk again but still no joy.

So the problem i've got is that i unable to access my file and folder in the disk drive. Even my external HDD is the same it opens up desktop search.

I think that the problem may have occured when i was trying to remove an icon. This was the advice i was given by trend micro as i was unable to remove there icon, as there icon replaced my HDD icon. Below is what they told me to do, hope you can help Thanks.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types > Select the Drive Icon > Advanced > Change Icon > Set it back to the original icon and click on OK.

Kind regards,

Mark,

That won't help, cause it will only maybe change the drive icon :frusty:

try
go to Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types > Select the Drive Icon > Advanced >
in the "actions" section, it should only say "find"
mark "find"
then click " set default"

and remove any other entries.
ok
test it
if it dont help
maybe reboot
test again.

My apologize to all who posted there help as regards my problem. In future i'll post how the problem was solved rather than a thank you.
This was how i solved the problem.

Download this file: drive.reg - it's the default "drive" key for a plain Windows XP SP2 install (with WinRAR installed, dunno if it'll matter). Import that. Check if the problem's fixed - you may have to reboot.

If not... go to regedit (start/run regedit, ok). Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Type "dr" to get down to "Drive". Delete it. Run that reg file again. Now it really should be fixed... there's no way it couldn't be. ]
My worked on the first part.
