There is an existing poll from 2002 with outdated options so I thought I'd post an updated poll

Edit:
This is a multiple choice poll because many people mix and match their players to suit different media types.

I voted "other". I use ZoomPlayer (http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml) which is great and sometimes GOM Player (http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html) which is almost as good.

VLC & Winamp for most everything.

I like Quicktime though if I'm watching streaming video.

03-08-2007, 09:46 AM
I also use this one, mainly for internet radio http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/

If you are seeding music torrents never use WMP as it actually changes the files, slightly, in the folder, and you will find your seed showing up dark red meaning the data has been corrupted. ( If you attempt to play them while seeding; foobar and winamp are ok, but why take the risk? )

I use for the rest Foobar for ripping mainly flac files and winamp for internet radio...

In windows i use bspalyer 1.5 for video and winamp for music.

when using linux i like amarok (http://amarok.kde.org/) which is probably the best music player out there at the minute. for video i normally use the xine libs with either totem or kaffeine as the front end.

oh yeah and vlc for any weird format on both systems.

Good to see VLC is getting so widely used. For ease of use and something that has 99% of all the codecs you will need for playback, I'd have to give my vote in this poll for it. :yup:

VLC for all kind of movies, Windows media player for music. I used to have winamp for music but in 2-3 weeks winamp got crazy and I got to reinstall it so nowadays windows media player is all I need when it comes to music.

Your reasoning baffles me :) Then you have the FST love Smilie in the Bittorrent forum.. all seems logical to me...

Currently it's mostly WMP, Zoomplayer and QCD.

If you are seeding music torrents never use WMP as it actually changes the files, slightly, in the folder, and you will find your seed showing up dark red meaning the data has been corrupted. ( If you attempt to play them while seeding; foobar and winamp are ok, but why take the risk? )

Or you can go into its settings and tell it not to add any content or modify files.

I don't use it for MP3s anyway, 'cos it seem pointless to use WMP for that, but it doesn't have to mess things up.

The default settings are moronic, tho'.

wmp, mpc, & vlc for different things. wmp has easy brightness/contrast controls. but for tough stuff to play you gotta crack out mpc or vlc.

powerdvd for.... dvds duh. it came with my computer and i like it a lot.
