Why is my computer telling me that external hard drives will perform fater if I connect them to high speed ports.

WTF is that about.

Mine did it too, until I pissed in the floppy drive, then it stopped.

The devices hubs and ports are all usb2.

Or it may be aids.


EDit: Maybe you need to update the drivers for the usb-controller, in case ones from before you installed xp sp1 are left.

It's probably that the device is connected to a usb 1.1 port wheras the device is also compliant with a 2.0 port.

You might wanna check with some other folk, tho'.

sounds like the BIOS needs flashing, try clearing your cache too, hope this helps.

I'd still remove all the USB from hardware devices and let windaes reinstall all the drivers. Worth a punt.
