Zoom in further on Google Maps

With a tiny bit of URL tweaking you can zoom in further on Googlemaps, provided the area you're looking at has big enough images:

Select a location and switch to satellite view. Zoom in as far as you can, and click 'link to this page' at the top right. Now replace the 'z' parameter in the URL with a higher value, e.g. 20, 22, or 23, and wait. Some locations will now show more detailed imagery.

I also tried it on my house for which the maximum standard zoom is 19, but I can edit it to 20 (anything higher doesn't work).

Very clever, but why not just download Google earth, for free You do refer to Google Local..right? :)

The idea, someone posts the name of a location somewhere in the world. The first person to find it, using Google Local, posts the link and the image then it's her/his turn to post the name of a location to be sought. http://www.hayling.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif so on ad infinitum ( or nearly)

This is a rather large temple complex, clearly visible from space..
