How come Funeral Photographers don't exist?
"We take shots of your most passionate moments"

Was at a funeral today, nothing too personal but just wondered about the lack of enthusiasm of people taking out their mini digi cams at every "precious moment"
Yes, i took some photos and felt guilty for it.
Strange.

It's too late by then, if you happen to notice someone having a heart attack snap away. Just think how much the relavtives will pay for the last pics of their loved ones and what better way to fill up a half empty family photo album.

So basically cameras where designed to capture only those events "when the sun shines"?
reality has more than one side.
Why hide it?

Probably not.
Western culture hides death,
instantly.
Sewage systems are not so appealing to the masses.
Yet they are essential.

People usually photograph things they want to re minis about, or show to others. A funeral wouldn't be something most people care to speak about at all after it's done.

You want to remember and converse about someone's life, not their burial.

Yes.

It is our fatal flaw as westerners.

Funeral photographer do exist.
At least, they do in Belgium.

We've got a photo album from my dad's funeral.

It's pretty common there. Someone will come round before the funeral and ask if you wish to have pictures taken.

When photography was in it's infancy and few people could afford portraits of their family, a large number of portraits were actually taken after the person had died.
