Ok Ive just been thinking maybe I shouldn't have used the word overrated what I mean is thease are albums that got the most talk when other albums by these artist were completly forgotten.

Revolver was the best Beatles album ever but they still rate sgy peppers as the best

agree but it was actually never released. his old record label kinda slowly leaked it.plus he was still underground and they didn't really care for him so never gave it publicity.

Most overrated / got the most talk Albums/Works - in no particular order - (in brakets what I would enter instead )

Who - Tommy ( Who's Next )
Radiohead - OK Computer ( The Bends )
Deep Purple I - In Rock ( Made in Japan )
Pearl Jam - Ten ( No Code )
Duran Duran - Rio ( Notorious )
Led Zeppelin - IV ( Physical Graffiti )
Police - Zenyatta Mondatta
J.S.Bach - Brandeburghish Concertos ( The Art of Fugue )
Frank Zappa - Uncle Meat ( We're only in it for the Money )
Oasis - Definitely Maybe ( What's the Story..)
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP ( The Eminem Show )
Madonna - Like a Prayer ( Ray of Light )
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited ( Blood on the Tracks )
Rolling Stones - Rolling Stones ( Let it bleed )
John Coltrane - Giant Steps ( Blue Train )
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue ( Tatoo )
....

Also, IMHO the Best Beatles' albums are ( in order ):
1 - White Album :P
2 - Sgt. Peppers
3 - Revolver
4 - Abbey Road

I agree that "Revolution #9" is NOT a good song, but it is anyway one track out of 30 on the same album: IMHO, all the other songs are good and some are really excellent.
It also indeed contributes to create one of the most heterogeneous album ever published.
By the way, some musicians I know appreciate "Revolution #9" and consider it being the beginning of the Minimal genre in Rock music and i.e. the original inspiration for Robert Fripp's Frippertronics experiments.
