if i do a speed test on say speakeasy.net it will show my upload speed at around 650kb.....Utorrent when its seeding at peak will not hit over 100kb across all my torrents. i can get 90ish total if there is alot of leachers. is this normal or are my settings wrong and i could get faster?

i take it your download speeds are fine?

in options > preferences > connections

look for the box called "bandwidth limiting" what is the value in the top box (global maximum upload rate)?

oh, and in options > preferences > bittorrent

look for "protocol encryption" at the bottom and change "outgoing" to enabled and put a tick in the "allow incoming legacy connection". just incase your isp is throttling your connection

0 on the global upload rate. everything else is how you said.

i have sorta the same problem on speed.net tests it shows my dl as around 550dl speed and my upload as around 250 yet my uls usually never reach 50 and my dls have never exceeded 70. im behind a router maybe thats hindering the speed but still i have no idea why

i'll say it again
8 kilobit is 1 kilobyte
thats why when u say 550kbps it means 68kbps

This is right, these speed test websites list in kilobits/sec (kb/s). Torrent programs list speeds in kilobytes/sec (kB/s). There are eight kilobits in a kilobyte, so divide the kb/s by eight to find your kB/s.

are you sure it doesn't mean 68kB/s :P though good point :)

yeah speakeasy measure in kilobits, where utorrent displays in kilobytes.

so where speakeasy says you upload at 650kb/s, utorrent would display that as 81kB/s

that makes sense.

Alot of isps post their speeds in this format to confuse users as well ;)

Its all a gimmick to make people think they are getting more speed than they really are.
Most speed test sites display it in KB/s and kb/s format though.
