View Full Version : Adding Subtitles to avi movie file, How?

I have the subtitle files srt and movie files but how do i embed them into the movie so they can be converted and burned to dvd. i can view them on video lan but i want to embed it so i can watch on tv etc. i tried vso doing:

and getting sub files from

but didn't work help needed

You should use VirtualDub and imprint subtitles with subtitler plug-in. It takes subtitles in ssa format, so you have to find a tool to convert srt to ssa. Add subtitler in Filters dialog, then re-encode the video.

make sure that the avi file and the subtitle file have the same name

Like medo said above, make sure the avi file and the subtitle file are the same file name and are in the SAME directory. If you are converting the AVI to DVD as part of your process, a burning proggy like ConvertXtoDVD will embed the subtitles into the movie. Make sure you manually switch on "subtitles" in your DVD player to view them.

use convertx to dvd, the thing available for burning movies with subtitles.
