Can i use a seedbox with oink??
I know the rules there are super strict, a long time ago
i gave a friend with a seedbox some oink torrent files and a day later
they blocked my account claiming that i "cheated" which was total BS.
so has anyone ever dont it? i was told that you could but im just not sure.

I think it should be safe if you are using seedbox from the start. That is, since you registered, if you are using a seedbox, then there shouldn't be problem.

Are you sure your 'friend' actually has a seedbox and is not just trying to scam you?

Or maybe their IP is banned from OiNK for previously cheating?

The admins know the difference between using a server to seed, and cheating. There are plenty of OiNK users using seedboxes with no problems. Funny that nbo would be the one to get disabled...

No, we don't want that any more, just normal file-sharing clients (BitTorrent in this case) We would also prefer to see you using Azureus, so get with it ! :)

I wouldn't trust the_e_male, he is arrogant and IMO not to be trusted, so my advice would be to drop in at the FileSharingTalk.com chat on Soulseek and PM Adster anyway. You can trust him.

OiNK does have issues to be honest. I think in trying to catch cheaters they disable honest users too! I had my account disabled and I had not even downloaded anything for myself yet! LOL... I am not bothered by invites or gaining PU status, as long as I can contribute to a site it is cool. So I had decided to up the swarm speed of a couple or torrents and help people out by seeding it uncapped and well the rest of my story has been posted before (look below)! That was my first and last acct at OiNK! If there are changes going on there then let me be the first to applaud the Admins there because its all about sharing! Take some time out and get the REAL cheaters and not honest users like myself.

I had a bad experience with Oink too, I had downloaded my FIRST torrent from them and seeded it uncapped on my 25MBit line and they banned me.. for "CHEATING"! LOL.. wtf.. Never cheated and don't EVEN know how to! I've NEVER been banned from any site ever before or ever again. I thought I would do something nice and up the swarm speed, on a torrent that was slow... I didn't want invites or anything just wanted them to see that I want to contribute and do something good!

Anyway no point, lots of people get banned there and I'm all in favor of supporting them in banning cheaters etc, but they don't always get it right and they should keep that in mind and maybe issue a warning and try to find out if someone is ACTUALLY cheating or give them a fair chance! Tried to ask them how I cheated but obviously no response and banned from IRC chat too. So I still don't get it! Is seeding on a fast line considered cheating or something?

I left the torrent to seed, not to earn anything out of it but give back and when I tried to log in it said account disabled. So I did go to the IRC chat to ask them why my account was disabled. All they said was "you were cheating and cheaters never win" and and I asked cheating how? but they banned me from the IRC. Thats it! LOL. Its puzzling to be honest, I wish they would have analyzed my account properly or seen the data I sent (don't know how it works but I'm sure there must be a way to see that I didn't send any bad data!). I mean I turned so many leechers into seeders and improved the swarm speed immensely. Personally I would like to see all the cheaters and scammers lined up and shot, because they give honest people like me a bad name. Why the HELL would you want to fake uploads when you can just seed the real thing! Never made sense to me, how exactly does it benefit someone, isnt it the same thing as seeding a real file?! If I was banned for a REAL reason I would understand, but to be put into that category when I was just trying to help just sucks! If they wanted me to do something to prove my innocence I would have. I have never been banned anywhere and always try to seed as much as I can especially torrents that have few seeds or low swarm speeds. I just think this kind of stuff takes the "sharing" out of "file sharing."

Anyway it is cool, I would rather be part of a site that appreciates people who genuinely upload for the benefit of others - rather than suspect them for NO REASON and ban them! I know I'm innocent and that is what matters most to me.

I believe you. Once polite and not corrupt moderators, are in place, things will improve, your apology will be one of the first sent, believe me. The Dutch Oink roots are at this moment under investigation, I suspect, who knows.

Anyway this story sounds strangely reminiscent of others I have heard.

I also heard, that the greatest dealers in power+ buttered accounts are 3 of the moderators, themselves and sometime they have to disable accounts to balance their books, so to speak...

Let me explain, this is indeed open to contention, and the comma I suggested is neither necessary nor required, I just like commas :)..as if you remove them after editing, often a sentence takes on a completey new meaning ... :) and nobody notices.

Ps: to explain somethings to some people often considerably more words that 10 words are required.

This is of course not true and it would be without result if you do. It might even lead to the disabling of complete invite trees.

No, I was not very happy with Oink, at that stage which is why I made that (erroneous) statement.
Truth is you only get one chance with Oink and even if Oink's moderators make a mistake..it's still good Bye to the Pink Palace, once your account is disabled even if you meant to do good.

Also one more thing, if you are a member, then why post here for Oink help, Oink has a perfectly good and active forum..!?
