this should be in software

i prefer stuffit browser [which is alladin product]
i think it's mostly about interface preferences
i'd like an app which made many small zip files of a directory!

Zip, ZAP, ZOOPP!

Howabout WINACE??? That's a pretty good pakking/unpakking prog.
Seems pretty efficient, too. I don't like winzip's interface, anyway.WINARC has a better i.f. so does WINACE

W.A. is worth a try.... oh , well...just a thought...blblblblbblblblblblblblblblblblbi...heehaw!

The xp built-in utility its so strange ,takes 10 minutes to unzip a file ,yeah winzip is good but can't unzip the rar files ,winrar is the best but you need a crack for,the best and is freeware is IZarc that unzip a lot of files such rar, zip, arj and more ,try it .

PowerArchiver is my choice for an all around archiving utility.
Good for zipping programs and making them self-extracting exe's to put on k-lite :)
HERE (http://www.powerarchiver.com/) is their website.
BTW, it's on kaz. also.

I use winzip jsut for zip files, and winrar for unzipping a load of zips at one time, (faster i think).

I've used WinZip for ages...and it's legally registered too! :P
If you're interested, WinZip is releasing version 9 beta, which includes a new compression format called "Maximum (enhanced deflate)". Apparently it compresses really good, and WinZip 8.1 is able to uncompress archives made in this format.
In my opinion, I say WinZip. It's too bad they can't add more compatible formats (like ACE, RAR, etc. support)

WinRAR is far superior to WinZip. Just look. WinZip can only (de)compress .zip files whereas WinRAR (de)compresses the lot.
PS. I downloaded WinAce from WinAce.com but it was in German. Not one word of English!

Well i currently use the beta version of WinZip 9.0, before that i was using WinZip 8.1 SR-1 and WinRAR 3.** (i don't remember) because it gives you more. I liked more WinZip 8.1 because it had nice GUI.

I personally like WinZip better, but use WinRAR too and sometimes WinAce.

The good thing about WinZIP is speed. I don't wanna have to spend an extra 5 seconds for every megabyte on WinRAR just for that extra 1% compression. And once it took me 2 hours to compress a 1-CD movie (WinRAR), while it took 2 minutes with Zip. It's just: less time vs. better compression. So suit yourself
