Want notified when you get a Gmail? Install the Gmail Checker. A Firefox add-on (addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3179) Yahoo mail has one I believe to. It installs a small icon at the bottom of your browser that notifies when a new message hits your inbox.

Google Desktop. Or just open Outlook - loads in like 3 secs. Thanks tho' last time I was surfing for FF addons I got lost as to what I really wanted. There's so many.

i use gmail manager for firefox as it's a nice little addition near the bottom right, and more specifically, allows me to manage multiple accounts which i use. perfect for me.
