I resently dl C&C Tiberum and I can not get it to work. When I did a sytem requirement check I get the following error:
64 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (NVIDIA GeForce4 or greater; ATI Radeon 8500 or greater (Radeon 9200 and 9250 PCI not supported). Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.)
You Have: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family (Intel(R) Calistoga Graphics Controller)

Is there anyway I can just do an update or do I need to purchase a new video card to play this?

Hi,
you only have an onboard video card. It's not meant to be used to play games, just simple office work or some less resource-needing games.
There you'd have to upgrade.

Stick to PONG and you'll be fine.

Now, that was just mean.

Well done.

Sometimes bile is the best medicine.

It can undo a good palate-cleansing, for sure. ;)

Isn't this a laptop?

It's hard to upgrade the graphics card on those.

Yes, mobile chip should be a laptop . Upgrade is not easy as on desktop computers , but it's possible. From my own experience Dell notebooks are easily upgradable

You would be correct, had I not desired the few extra syllables.

First you need to know what type MXM card your laptop supports and then you need the buy that MXM version card and it should fit in. Sadly for you, MMX cards are very expensive. Oh and Dells are the easiest to upgrade. Generally laptops have custom made video cards so they can fit the chassis of the laptop which make many laptops harder or impossible to upgrade.

System requirements
What are the recommended system requirements for the game?

AMD Athlon 64x2 4800+ or Intel Core 2 Duo, 1Gb RAM, 3D Hardware Accelerator Card Required - 100% DirectXR 9.0c compatible 256MB (Geforce 7800, for example).

It should be noted that at the start of the game development our initially targeted system requirements were much lower. As a result (and due to the lengthy game development) the game can be played well on lower-end systems (the game ships with two renders - DirectX 8 and DirectX 9 one).

Additionally, the game allows to scale various options for optimal performance. For the maximum quality and performance, the more powerful system you have, the better.

Why would t he game not just play on it anyway?
Look at the system requirements ffs I used to play this on a 333mhz 64mbram computer with 4mb onboard graphics!

Pentium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium) II 166 MHz, 32 MB RAM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random_access_memory), Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, 2 MB PCI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripheral_Component_Interconnect) graphics card, DirectX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX) compatible sound card, 200 MB hard disk space, 4x CD-ROM drive
