Server would be:
Intel® Pentium IV 3.0 GHZ
2048MB DDR-RAM
2x120GB 7200RPM IDE-HDD
4000GB bandwidth!
$149.95

Provider Vectoral, which is known to be just great.

Total cost:
Total Due Today: $184.85 USD Total Recurring: $164.90 USD Monthly
2 guys besides me, total 3 persons sharing the server:
Everyone would get:
240GB / 3 = 80GB of HDD space per user.
4000GB / 3 = 1333GB of Bandwidth per month per user.

Price per one participant would be:
First month: 184,85 USD / 3 = 61,6 USD
And next months after that: 164,90 USD / 3 = 55 USD

Not too bad imho.. yeah, one can get VPS server for as cheap as 15 dollars, but it's shared and totally a different thing than this kind of dedicated server. Plus it includes Windows 2003 Web edition on that price.

I would be interested in having the server for at least 2 months, so you should also be willing to rent the server for the same amount of time.

Server is 100Mbps so it would be nice and fast for all three of us at the same. And if needed, we could have for example 3 days in a row, and one would get 24hr 100% of bandwidth, then the next, and then the last... however we like and see fit.

If you are interested, PM me. We can then chat more @ IRC or msn messenger.

I know it's hard to build a trusting relationship quickly, but we can at least try. :)

Have you thought that he may be already ordered the server?

If you are alone, you can try Renacu. It has a promo code there.

I agree with showbox. Go with leeware, the one you are getting costs too much and no one needs that much bandwidth

When I used to have a server, I used 3600 some gb. The provider had some problems, and I think i'm one user that had a hand in that :D

vectoral is the best... speed kicks ass! BTW Mr. Bunny Rabbit I've used 1500GB in 5 days...

My recommendation is to not run more then 2 users. You can't even run 3 unless you purchase more license keys. all 3 users wont be able to login at the sametime and have active sessions.

you'll have massive memory spike issues running 2 or 3 instances of utorrent at the sametime...be careful.

I have Fujitsu-Siemens server with these specification :
Cpu : Intel Core2Duo 6600
Ram : 4 GB DDR-II
H.d.d : 2*250 GB - 7200 RPM
Bandwidth : 5 TB

and I have Windows Server 2003 STD Edition .
I mean eventhough I pay 179 euro for this server but it is wonderful . My windows Can FLY with this amount of RAM .

Yeah... I'm still looking for a mate ;)

Now the server I first looked at is no more available, but this would be a suitable option now:
Intel® Pentium IV 3.2 GHZ, 2048MB DDR-RAM, 2 X 120GB HDD and 3TB b/w, Win 2003 Web.

First month: $164.85 USD
Following: $144.90 USD

Shared by two people (price per one user):
First month: $82,425 USD
Following: $72,45 USD

It seems like a lot versus leeware's cheapest option, but I'm thoroughly tired of leeware's shitty speeds and linux overall :)

One would get 120GB HDD and 1,5TB bandwidth. Don't really know how it would be possible (and easy) to keep tabs on how much each one has used bandwidth...

Anyway, if anyone is interested in renting a dedicated server with me, write me a PM. I'm still interested. :)

Why do I have a feeling that I've heard (or read most likely) from somewhere that netdirekt is a pile of shit and one shouldn't rent anything from them...

Hmm, need to investigate this, if netdirekt is in the same league as Vectoral, then it is a good option. Thanks.

EDIT:
This it was...

Vectoral servers are located in NetDirekt's datacenter in Germany, run a traceroute. ;)

And they are in the same league, I know what I'm saying.

Yeah I figured out yesterday Vectoral is located in the same datacenter, but still, it doesn't mean Netdirekt couldn't have different policy about p2p etc? Anyways, it seems I might just give a try to Netdirekt.

I didn't see any provider explicitely allowing torrents, except of Leaseweb.

Give it a try, I'm quite sure you won't be dissapointed.

Is it really worth getting a server? I've been thinking about getting a Leeware for a week or two now, but just cant justify paying for a server. Why have you all decided to pay for a server or seedbox?

Xaeron

Leeware has been working somewhat ok for the past day again... speeds are decent 400-1500kB/s, but they ain't stable. Changes a lot. Anyways, when the upstream of home connection is max 100kB/s, this has been a nice week for me... have been able to upload a lot of data :)

I guess I might even go for another month with leeware. Seeing as they now increased their prices. The cheapest vps 100 now costs 20$. Hopefully the price increase doesn't affect existing customers who are paying 15$. I think I need to double check that...
