Hi Guys

As you all know there are two types of ID3 tags.

I am sick of id3v1 tags as there is that limit to the length of the title name field which means I cannot name my songs correctly.

So I have decided to make all my MP3s have id3v2 tags and then I will delete the id3v1 tags.

Can anyone see any disadvantages to not having the id1 tags anymore.

I use Foobar as my main music player.

Kind Regards

I'd imagine it'll just futz up compatibility with older MP3 players.

You don't have to delete the v1 tags, you can have both which means there won't be any problems.

Id3v2 might be , as already mentioned, less compatible with some hardware, since it saves more information and also a little slower.
But it shouldn't be problem to use both and then you'd have compatibility. Here an app rec : http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html

If you use the newer id3 tags (v2) it could have problems working with older media players.

You can avoid problems by using both v1 and v2, because you can.

I recommend using mp3tag for your mp3 tagging needs.
