I dislike LOTR. The 3 movies were excellent, don't get me wrong. I dislike it because people who like it make it sound like its the best damn movie ever. Thats including my immediate family, my gf and perhaps even my dog.

Anyway, I pick 300 over LOTR obviously. Easy choice for me as i'm a sucker for those movies with epic battles and those that glorify the idea of warriors without making it fantasy-like like LOTR.

LOTR was definitely more in depth and more enjoyable to watch. 300 lacked the depth, intuition, and it left questions unanswered especially at the end of the movie. The blood, gore, and sex of 300 is what most people loved about it.. nothing more.

In my opinion, this is comparing apples and oranges. The movies were not cast or delivered on the same footing, arguably not even in the same genre.

LOTR was a truly epic presentation, with as much realism as possible in a fantasy tale. It was easy to relate to the characters.

300, while based on a true historic event, was surreal, and concentrated on action rather than plot. I actually much preferred the 1962 film The 300 Spartans.

I think that LOTR will eventually enjoy "classic" film status, while 300 will fade into the fog of history.

well i just watched 300 and i think its gotta goto lotr. 300 is good but it is mostly just slow motion fight scenes with little plot.

LOTR is a great saga of 3 long inspired deep complex movies.

Geez... 300 was a joke. L.O.T.R the movies are way better. L.O.T.R the books are million times better. 300 haves many boring moments, bad drama. Combat scenes are great. but honestly, you need a lot more to do a great movie like good acting, good story, interest most not get down till the end.. 300 fails to do that.
