A little old lady is rocking quietly in her rocking chair when a knock comes at the door. She hardly ever got visitors and rushed to the door as quickly as she could.

"Western Union, ma'am," said a man when the door opened. "Telegram for you."

"Oh, goodness ... a telegram for me??? Please, could you do me a favor? Could you sing it to me?"

The man chuckled and said, "Oh, ma'am, Western Union hasn't done singing telegrams for over 40 years now. I just couldn't."

"Oh, please," the old woman pleaded. "I never get phone calls, never get visitors, and this is the first telegram I've ever had in my life. Please don't disappoint an old lady, now. Please sing it for me."

"Well, ma'am, I really shouldn't ..."

"Please? Please? ....."

"OK, OK, I guess I could make an exception if that's what you want." He cleared his throat and sang, "Dum ta-da dum dum dum, your sister, Rose, is dead......"
