Richie Blackmore - Highway Star ( Deep Purple - Made in Japan )
Ron Thal - Hermit ( Hermit )
Ron Thal - Fatback ( Hermit )

Not the Best Ever, but the most meaningfull for me personally has to be:
Stray Cats - Runaway Boys , Brian Setzer on guitar. When i first heard it, i wanted to get me a guitar. :)

But for the Best Solo? That's too hard to answer, too many candidates...

Cheers:

Say What?- SRV ( not really a solo, more like a whole song)

Breathe- David Gilmore, Dark side of the Moon- proof that sometimes less is more

Blues Newberg- Danny Gatton- eat your hearts out players

The Messiah Will Come Again- Roy Buchanan- pure longing spoken with 6 strings

Still Got the Blues for You- Gary Moore- the reason God invented the Gibson hollowbody

As has been said there are just so many, many of which (Whole Lotta Love, Hotel California) are really great but I've just heard 'em too many times.

;) What about Randy Rhodes, Zach Wilde, Alex Lifeson, Glen Tipton, K.K. Downing, Adrian Smith, and Eddie Van Halen? Did we forget about the greats? And they hav'nt sold out like the Pussy bands including Metalica who forgot about the fans that got them to were they are now.

shadows fall - of one blood

its my favorite one... incredibly cool sounding!

other worth mentioning are the Dreamer one by Zakk which is simple but fits the song so well, the Crazy train one because randy is the man, lot of other shadows fall and in flames solos just kick ass and of course all the guitar gods have some great solos like yngwie, satriani and the others.

Steely Dan "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" The solo just before the last chorus: short, sweet and very slick. Not sure if it is Walter Becker or Skunk Baxter doing the honors.
