Maybe willing to go bit extra and also is it worth buying a non-compatible card for dx10 (or does it matter)?

8800GTS 320mb evga is a good choice. That will be around $270 USD.

If you go for the 640mb then you're looking at $100 or so more.

The 320mb 8800GTS benchmarks close to it's 640mb brother.

When you start getting into some games on max settings the extra 320mbs really comes in handy, sometimes there can be a 30 or 40fps difference.

They are both great cards.
But if you have the cash buy the 640mb version.

The 640MB should be "future proof" for a while. IMO it's the best choice.

640 will be more effective at high resolutions i.e 1600x1200 and higher. And what brand u buy doesn't really matter (most often)

from what i've seen/read/heard, if you're planning on playing crysis at max settings, i'd suggest a 640MB 8800GTX...and plan on adding another soon.

You'd be able to play on high settings with a evga 8800 640mbs for some time to come.

I expect a slight price decrease when ATI releases it's new chip sometime in the second quarter of this year. But it'll be a pricey card for the foreseeable future.
