AOL, gotta be the worst ISP ever?!

I download a fair bit, nout to major....

And then about 3-4 weeks ago i started to get limited in peak hours down to 50kb/s instead of 700 kb/s, and now they have took it TO FAR i tell ya, limiting me to 25 kb/s around the clock, Live Help Totally suck and i got 2 months left on the contract.

And yet, they havent touched my upload speed, thank god.

Dont go with AOL if you download large amounts.

They say unlimited, yet download over 60GB and you go onto the FUP. :whistling

Well, nothing is for free, up to now you probably got far more than you paid for when compared to what other ISPs charge, so it's a bit late to start complaining now.

Bite the bullet and switch ISPs. I don't know where you are based, but if they are anything like the UK arm it will probably take so long to switch you will be well into the last month of the contract.

I'd disagree i've been bittorrenting for ages huge up and downloads with aol. I don't use their browser cos i think it's pretty bad but the service and speed is good.

LOL AOL scams so many people with their DSL and highspeed package which is basically what u pa for cable. Also they are probably the worst isp for dialup in service and price.

I think yesterday I saw on my Google page that AOL falls to 3rd largest ISP...

Lemme find it...Here's somethin' like it from C|Net - AOL slips to No. 3 on Internet (http://news.com.com/AOL+slips+to+No.+3+on+Internet/2100-1038_3-6181159.html?tag=item), but it doesn't show their original standing when they were #1...

Hmmm...

Edit: Haha, success! Here's what I originally read from BetaNews (http://www.betanews.com/article/AOL_Falls_to_Third_Largest_ISP/1178215923):

In yet another sign of the ubiquity of broadband, AOL said yesterday it now counts only 12 million subscribers - a far cry from the company's peak of 26.7 million in 2002. AOL is now only the third largest ISP, behind both AT&T with 12.1 million subscribers and Comcast with 12.9 million.
