Use a coaxial audio-out cable and plug it into your hi-fi's Aux jack.
Then set the Hi-Fi to Aux and enjoy.

3.5mm jack to audio left and right surely. As you say connected to the amps auxilliary input, normally red and white audio connectors.
That's the way I do it.
Do soundcard's have co-ax connectors, forgive my ignorance.

Did I say coaxial?
What an idiot I am.
Ignore me.
And yes, it has to split at the end for the Aux jack.

Actually you can use any analog(aka "line level") input on your receiver [except the turntable input].
If your soundcard has a digital output you can connect that to a receiver with a digital input [via optical or coaxial cable].

If your receiver is very far away from the computer, the analog signal will pick up interference and sound bad. Works for short distances though.
I used a digital out with a coaxial cable hooked up to a dolby digital decoder then the receiver. Load up your playlist in Winamp and your set.
