View Full Version : strategies for building ratio on SCT?

So I got into SCT and before I touch a single torrent I got myself a leeware seedbox.
The box is working fine, the total upload speed reaches 5-6mb/s sometimes, well rarely, but mostly more than 2mb/s.

I grab a torrent at sct as soon as it is posted and I DO NOT EVEN REACH 1:1
I barely reached it later after 1 day of seeding.
It is friggin brutal there, how do you guys manage to build your ratio there?!!!

Leech off torrent leech, seed on scene torrents.

then what the point of having SCT account....when you have to download form tl and seed on SCT...you might as well stick to TL.

Then whats the point of using torrents...when you can download from limewire and don't have to seed anywhere. He asked for some advice, i gave him the most basic advice i could :)

What kind of reply was that? On limewire you cannot find DVD-Rs, or comments on the quality of the torrents; further its full of viruses, has many DRM files, its almost impossible to download a full music album; there are countless other reasons why people prefer torrents over gnutella, you should now that.

I think he is right; if you want to enjoy your torrent experience you don't have to worry so much about your ratio, than to download from one tracker for seeding to another.

Who cares about sct, if you can find exactly the same content on TL with similar speeds?

Actually I tried that, but I found that revtt and supertorrents and iplay are faster than TL and their pretimes are much better.
You can upload a few 100 MBs this way but not GBs, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Get an SCT Pack, and leave it on uploading for a few days, you can get at least 70 gigs uploaded within that time period. If you can't then there's something wrong with your configuration settings because ive done it around 15 times :)

he said, he has leeware, so not enough space for pack ;)

if you just want to make a ratio for the start, download just sample files, especiallly if pack has it, and leave those for seeding...

it looks you got ScT just because is cool to have ScT :D

I am doing that too, partial seeding.
Well why do you really get SCT then? SCT is a tracker that you have to serve, instead of it serving you:(
Anyway I didn't really seek SCT, I received an invite by chance and I am trying to survive untill I change my internet connection to fiber.

What I find really funny though, is that if you seed 15x70GB like JA did, it means others (like me) are screwed by the same amount. lol. Of course that's an obvious fact in the torrent world, but if you think of it, torrenting is becoming more like a competitive sport rather than sharing.

15x70 was an exaggeration, more like once or twice :). Just jump on the new TV shows, 350 mb's idol in pre-chan, as soon as they are out go for em, and your sure to get a 1+ ratio.

I have a 768k upload and could keep a ratio over 1 there. If you have a box, you're doing something wrong. If you don't have the space for a pack, make sure you are there at night when new TV is released and download and seed that as soon as it is released. You should get at least 3-4 gigs per show, especially on the popular shows. Same for popular movies. The key is to jump on it as soon as it is released, because there are around 10 people who rss every release to a 100mbit box and seed it for a week.

Exactly, there are 10 of them I noticed that.
Problem is TV shows are released too late for my time zone. lol
Is there a way to RSS them on utorrent on leeware box?

i used to get screwed with all my tv-shows on ST, got like .2 ratio, but then i just started using rss feeds and bam, get a 1.5 by the time i come back from school, snatching it early really helps

Ask on their forums, people love talking about their seedboxes :P. I'm pretty sure there's a way, and if your box runs windows, ScT Notify should work as well.

So you can download as fast as possible. If you want stats on your mediocre connection, torrentleech is always available.

Be happy they do. That's their prime motivation in getting you releases.

actualy i can't get them on 10/10 connection, but nevermind .
IMO, new torrents are always well seeded, so there is no need in 20 seedbox simultaneously on them .

Give others a chance to seed. If your ratio on a single torrent is already above 1:1, you should give others the chance to seed too. Overseeding will only make it hard or even impossible for others to keep a good ratio.

you have a 10/10 connection and you're having trouble keeping stats? :incredulous: Even on ScT, realize that connection is probably in the top 10% of users.

What are you guys doing, going out of your way to dl old barely seeded torrents?

I don't even always max out my 12mbit home connection on other sites. Certainly no other site keeps speeds fast for nearly as long as ScT does.

I didn't say i have a problem of keeping good stats . i just said that it is very hard to compete with five-six rss'd 100Mbit seedboxes on newest torrents , i.e. i won't get 1 ratio on a torrent just after the snatch, i must seed it after the snatch too if i want 1 ratio. and if i need some buffer, i need to keep it some more time. unlike those 100Mbit boxes , that have ~10 ratio right after the snatch , and they don't snatch a specific torrent, they fucking snatch everything

If you can't setup RSS at your seedbox you can set up ScaneRSS at your home computer to save torrents in some folder and then auto upload them to your seedbox. uTorrent and rTorrent have the ability to import files from specified folder automatically.

i won't tell you the whole story, but unfortunaly i don't have this 10/10 connection at my home, moreover, i can use it limited time a day since i have other things to do, and i mostly can't leave it seeding after i go . the end .
