When I check used disk space in putty using df -h it says I have used 11GB while I am sure I only have 8GB worth of downloaded files!!
Anyone knows where the lost space is?

Remember u need HD space for the OS and its system files..

ftp takes a lot of time to check it, but i think the system file takes some space and it's really not 20GB to start with, more like 18.x something
so I guess you end up with 16-17GB

A little under 1gb will be taken by the OS, plus a little under 1gb for overhead of the ext3 filesystem. (other filesystems like xfs typically have less overhead, but grub doesn't like them).

1KB is not 1,000 its 1,024
1MB is not 1,000,000 its 1,048,576
1GB is not 1,000,000,000 its 1,073,741,824

so 20GB is 1,073,741,824 * 20 = 21,474,836,480

But they are not giving you 21.4 GBs they are giving you 20 so..

20,000,000,000 / 1,073,741,824 = 18.6GB

So people should really think about this before getting leeware. 20GB is really small let alone 16GB.

Then again, you get what you pay for. LEeware is excellent for the cost. 16GB is over 3 DVDRs, it's enough for me at least.

It makes it really hard to seed on many trackers. Also you can't keep stuff seeding for a long time because you have to delete them which means more work for you downloading and deleting all the time

I thought you could upgrade the amount of space, maybe I'm mistaken?

It costs like $40
More than the server itself

Yeh, with 384MB of ram, you can have :
- 20GB for 20$
- 30GB for 35$
- 40GB for 40$

The last one isn't available yet, but when i asked Lee for HDD upgrade he said :

I have a plan that will be released soon that will allow you to purchase 40GB of space for $40/month.

But, except if you absolutly need the 40GB on an unique server, you should take two 20GB, so you will have the same space but with two VPS (2 x bandwih, 2 x proc , 2 x ram....)

Very true, but I think what he meant is HDD alone costs $40 in addition to the $20 you pay for the VPS

The thing is small HDD with not so fast bandwidth isn't good, you either need fast bandwidth so you can seed a lot in little time or a bigger HDD so you can seed longer
