To sum up simply, Kazaa was one of the 'founding fathers' of modern p2p software. A few years ago it was used by everyone, or clones of it on the fastrack network. This was when it's main rivals were morpheus and grokster, which were on the gnutella network (pretty sure, correct me if I am wrong). It was pretty much the new napster, when everyone went back to filesharing after it was shut down. It was great until 90% of the files were fakes planted by the record companies. Kazaa is pretty much washed up now, and it's full of spyware/adware and crap. For a long time I used K++ (lite), which was the stripped down version (that is technically illegal, but who cares).

not really, if anything, it was the beginning of the end of the napster style of p2p, and helped in the rise of bittorrent. Because it sucked so bad.

KaZaA is an obsolete meth of p2p over fasttrack. Few problem with K++ is that for one the proto is closed the file hash is not intact while sharing to verify the checksum. KaZaA was once good my KP level was 37000+ back in 2003. Thats right 37000+ I upload 100gb per month download nothing.

This forum used to be the Kazaa Lite forum. It changed to file sharing talk a few years ago.

Thinking about it, i remember way back when I used to be so anxious to download the latest bootleged movie.
Waiting about a week for the complete file to soon find out it was already released in theaters.

Man, What were they thinking when they named all these programs kazaa, bear share, limewire, napster, and all are not any good nowadays either.Napster is a funny name lol. I rememeber that stupid toy from the 80's petster! LMAO! I wonder if the name was derived from that. Here's a link http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0849/ and another one http://www.megadroid.com/images/Petster/pestercat_closeup.jpg maybe the cat invented napster LMFAO!!!

Actually last days of Napster interested me in file sharing. I looked around for substitution for Napster and found KaZaa official v1.6, I think. I installed that on my University Network PCs (it was still o.k at that time) since I was on dial-up, and University had a good pipe. My second step was to get portable CD Writer and big bunch of CDRW discs or CDRs. Oh boy, it was crazy time - Kazaa was running on 4-5 PCs and I was going around with portable writer and was coping files. At this time I was just grabbing averything, I was drunk of FREEE things!!!
So during Kazaa Reign I got my first ADSL.... TO cut story short, I dropped Klite for 2 reasons (before its complete demise), first was the departure of RANDOM NUT - the original developer of KLite (if you still outhere under different name PM me, you are still on my buddy list), second I disliked any version above 3.0, I think (anyway versions after random nut were bad).
So I looked around and found ABC and bittorent. Next and the last so far is uTorrent for me and BT all the way.

Later all
